A task force at the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department is aiming to find the best way to use so-called rumble strips at the center and along the edges of highways.
The task force is part of the state’s effort to increase safety on rural highways, but rumble-strip use won’t be limited to rural routes, said Highway Department spokesman Randy Ort.
“We’re trying to figure out when and where they are warranted,” Ort said.
Task force members started work months ago but never sought The Guru’s vast insight.
Putting more rumble strips in rural areas might be a nice way to begin, although Arkansas has used rumble strips in those areas some in the past.
